Dr. Renford Reese

Founder, Prison Education Project

Dr. Reese is a tenured-professor at Cal Poly Pomona and founder of PEP, which has served 15,000+ students across 60+ facilities since 2011. He is one of the co-founding executive directors of the CSU Project Rebound Consortium for formerly incarcerated students. He has developed prison education initiatives in Uganda and Scotland. He was the recipient of the George P. Hart "Faculty of the Year" award at Cal Poly Pomona. In 2024, he was recognized by the California's governor's OYCR agency

as the  "Youth Justice Champion" of the year.

Program Manager

Tarik developed Youth RA through years of direct experience facilitating programming inside Los Angeles County juvenile facilities. Youth RA has since grown it into a multi-track program with a leadership development summit for program alumni. He brings a background in counseling, youth development, and curriculum design.
